Scope and Contents: c. 1890-1910. 745 single-image glass lantern slides primarily of places in highland central Mexico, but also includes scenes from Cuba, Panama, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Barbados, and Costa Rica. Images include landscapes, urban and rural street scenes, Colonial architecture, La Viga Canal, modes of transportation, urban and rural daily life, markets, archaeological sites, parks and plazas, public monuments, and churches. Several of the slides are hand-colored. Contact prints in black and white were made from each of the slides.
